Datapalooza Event – Data Science: Navigating New Frontiers.

Data Science is already a well-established, multidisciplinary field addressing major contemporary challenges across many sectors. Even for the most mature data functions, many pitfalls and challenges exist.  The event focused on topical challenges that often derail data driven transformation projects.

The event reflected on the diversity of skills and knowledge required to successfully harness data and deliver step changes in business performance.

It focused on:

- Extracting signal from noise.
- Effective and Commercial Data Governance.
- Enhancing the relationship between the board and data practitioners.
- Issues relating to fit for purpose trust, privacy and security.

The event allowed the speakers to offer their perspectives and gave the opportunity to open discussion for all those who attended.

Jamie; Executive consultant at MBN:
“I had a great night attending the MBN and Datapalooza mashup. We had a good turn-out at the event and the range of discussion around the latest trends and issues in Big Data, Data Science and Analytics was both interesting and stimulating. Most importantly, it was clear that the audience were very engaged which is always a good sign!”

MBN Academy Welcome Two New Consultants!

As a leading global provider of people solutions, MBN is only as good as our people. Every day, we play a vital role in helping client organisations to identify the very best people to help them to create value and grow with confidence.  One characteristic in common with all of the organisations we work with is that they have very high expectations of our consultants.  As part of an ongoing growth strategy, we respond by recruiting truly outstanding people.  As such, we would like to welcome two new consultants Jack Hunter and Gary Peebles to the growing MBN team.

Jack started off pursuing a career in music achieving a HNC in Sound Production in 2014. In 2015, he changed paths and represented Sainsbury’s Online working at Teleperformance. He then moved onto the role of Telesales Executive and Account Manager on the Just Eat Campaign.

Gary studied Computing Science at Abertay University graduating in 2012. Since graduating, he has gained much experience working with companies in different sectors. Early 2016, he began his recruitment career by working with Brook Street Recruitment.

Both consultants have joined at an exciting time. We look forward to their contribution and wish them the best of luck.

MBN Exclusive Event –
Using Big Data Analytics to Transform Customer Experience.

Although data and analytics have great value to organisations when applied to many business situations and operational problems, it’s clear that in many transformation projects, the customer experience is the actual driver and the real catalyst for successful outcomes.

Knowing the importance of the customer experience overall and the increasing focus on that experience for businesses is often seen as a challenging area to tackle. Getting it right whilst achieving alignment of insight and analytics delivers exceptional results for transformational businesses.  The event focused on success stories and the key attributes harnessed to achieve desired outcomes, together with debate relating to common pitfalls and areas to avoid.

We heard from 3 fantastic speakers Nick McCarty, Yasmeen Ahmad and Brian Price.

Find out more about what they talked about here!

This workshop was held to bring blockchain communities together and explore how public and private sector can use the blockchain to innovate new solutions to old problems.

This event was aimed at non-experts in public sector who wish to learn more about distributed consensus mechanisms (e.g. BlockChain) and learn the varied applications that go beyond bitcoin and other crypto currencies and will help Scotland achieve its stated aim of being a “safe and secure place to do business where citizens have trust in public services.”

MBN go to Stirling

MBN Academy, in the shape of Robin Huggins, visited the beautiful countryside campus of the University of Stirling in Scotland. Rob was visiting to present on and discuss Data Science Opportunities with an audience consisting of students from two courses – MSc. in Data Science for Business and MSc. in Big Data.

Rob had been invited to present by the course leader of the MSc. in Data Science course, Dr. Kepa Mendibil, and was delighted to be joined on the day by Audrey Leteve – Analytics Team Leader at Aquila Insight.

One of the major functions that MBN Academy carries out externally is that of subject matter expertise for University course leaders, lecturers and academics looking to work collaboratively with organisations who can deliver cutting-edge insight into the commercial world of Big Data, Data Science and Advanced Analytics.

Rob, Audrey and Aquila Insight’s Talent Manager Alana Gunn (herself a former graduate of the University) spent a very pleasant and stimulating morning discussing opportunities within Scotland for aspirant Data Professionals, how best to navigate their way towards that dream career and the types of project work that they might carry out once they complete their studies and move into commercial roles.

See what Dr. Kepa Mendibil had to say about the presentations!

MBN Recruitment

As part of an ongoing growth strategy, we respond by recruiting truly outstanding people.

As a fast paced, agile business, it is vitally important that MBN recruits the best talent and the best fit individuals to join the company. On this occasion we welcome back Mari Evans to the MBN team!

Mari
“I feel really fortunate to have been offered the opportunity to come back to MBN. Although MBN were doing fantastically well in my last stint here, the growth of the company in terms of size, coverage and above all the engagement with the tech community in Scotland as well as the rest of the UK has been phenomenal over the last year. MBN has a fantastic structure in place for all their consultants; from nurturing fresh talent in the MBN Academy to supporting and developing established consultants to becoming managers through extensive management training programmes.

We also have a much larger presence in Scotland through our tech meet ups which have become hugely successful in addition to our engagement with Scotland IS and the Data Lab. I felt that with all of this, it was the perfect time to come back and be a part of one of the most exciting and dynamic people solutions providers in Glasgow.”

We warmly welcome back Mari to the team and we look forward to her contribution and wish her the very best of luck!
